The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras announces auditions for the 2017-2018 season.
Please see below for required application forms, audition dates, and audition excerpts. Please read all the information before filling out the application.
Students must successfully pass an audition each year. The student must be a member of his/her school instrumental music program, if provided. Wind and percussion students must be in band. String students must be in orchestra (if school has an orchestra). Non-participation in school instrumental music program requires approval from school band or orchestra director.
Musicians age 12-19 at the time of audition are eligible for the Symphony (high school graduates, however, may not hold a principal chair). Musicians ages 10-19 at the time of audition are eligible for the Philharmonic (letter of recommendation from music teacher is required for students ages 10-11). Musicians younger than 10 at the time of audition may audition only for Etude or Prelude.
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings during the school year at Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences.
Thank you to everyone that auditioned! Audition results were sent via regular mail on May 25th. If for some reason you did not receive a letter, please contact the manager at firstname.lastname@example.org
