Orchestras

We would like you to know about a group of young musicians in the Chattanooga area. They are talented, focused, dedicated, energetic and hardworking. As can be said of all young people, they are our future. In this case, our musical future! Together they are known as the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Youth Orchestras (CSOYO). They currently consist of over 200 musicians.

Symphony

The Symphony, conducted by Gary Wilkes, is the premiere orchestra of the CSOYO, representing some of the best middle and high school talent in the Chattanooga area.  They often perform standard orchestral repertoire and difficult contemporary works that would be a challenge for any orchestra.  In 2009, they accompanied Midori in a performance of the Barber Violin Concerto (1st movement).  Some of the Symphony alumni are now members of top professional symphony orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic.
