The CSOYO is open to students up to the age of 19 with serious interest in symphonic music. Students auditioning for the Symphony must be 12-19 years of age. Students auditioning for the Philharmonic must be 10-19 years of age. Students auditioning for the Philharmonic who are younger than 12 must have a recommendation from their private music teacher (or school instrumental music teacher). Admission is by auditions, which are held each spring. Additional auditions for the Prelude and Etude Orchestras may be held in the fall and in January at the Conductor’s discretion. Students must be members of their school instrumental music program, if provided. Wind and percussion students must be in band. String students must be in orchestra (if school has an orchestra). Non-participation in school instrumental music program requires approval from school band or orchestra director.
