A limited number of needs-based scholarships are available to musicians who successfully audition and are selected to an orchestra for the 2020-2021 season. Applications for these scholarships will open in June once membership notification letters have been sent. Applications can be completed online and applicants will be notified prior to the final tuition deadline in August.
BOB BURKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
This full tuition scholarship is awarded to an oboe player who has been selected for CSOYO membership during the upcoming season, in memory of the late Bob Burks, principal oboist in the CSO.
FLOY WANG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
This full tuition scholarship is given to a first-year member of either the Prelude or Etude orchestra each season in memory of Ms. Floy Wang, Etude & Prelude Conductor from 2014-2018.
Student Managers are needed for the 2020-2021 CSOYO Season. Student Managers are selected by the conductors of each orchestra (2 each for Symphony & Philharmonic, 1 each for Etude & Prelude) and the CSOYO Manager. They receive a 50% discount off the regular tuition rate for their orchestra.
GRACE RUSSELL SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship in the amount of $2000.00 is awarded to a current CSOYO member who plans to attend the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and applied to their tuition for this festival. More information about the SSMF can be found HERE. In addition to the application form below, a recommendation letter from a parent or guardian, plus an evaluation letter from the member’s private teacher are required. The recommendation letter should be submitted to the CSOYO manager separately at csoyo.chattanoogasymphony.org. The Teacher Evaluation Form will be sent to the applicant’s private teacher by the CSOYO Manager upon receipt of the application.
